Geographic Literacy: Where are we going in Education

In today's modern world, it is imperative that people understand the world around them. We make geographically-based decisions every day. The impacts of any particular far-reaching decision might be small, but the cumulative impact of the decisions made by millions of people is enormous.  People that are geographically literate can make informed decisions about their environment and their local and global communities.   I will talk about the importance of geographic literacy and why more emphasis should be placed on it in education at all levels.
